Standard Tests for Mosaic Tiles

The National Iranian Standard Organisation has developed Standard No. 755 to conduct specialised assessments of mosaic products and determine their quality specifications.

Standard 1-755 applies to mosaic tiles intended for indoor use.

Standard 2-755 applies to products designed for outdoor use.

This standard evaluates characteristics such as dimensional deviation, edge straightness, flatness of the top surface, flexural strength, abrasion resistance, water absorption, frost resistance, and breaking load.

Each test characteristic includes different classification levels, generally indicating resistance or deviation from low to high.

For example, in the breaking strength test for outdoor-use products, three resistance classes are defined.

In Class 1, which represents the minimum acceptable standard resistance, the breaking strength for a single sample must be at least 2.8 MPa, and the average of the samples must be 3.8 MPa.

Meanwhile, the minimum breaking strength for the product to be classified as high resistance is 4 MPa for a single sample.

Regarding labelling, the manufacturer's name or trademark must be marked on the back of the product. Additionally, packaging should display the production date, national standard number, product title, and official shape and dimensions.
